Parents Pack West Orange NJ H.S. for Special Needs Expo
A crowd of nearly 200 people packed the West Orange New Jersey High School gym for the Parents Advocating for Special Services in Education’s Second Annual Special Needs Expo.
More than 40 vendors shared their services and advice with parents during the three hour event, while dozens of volunteers helped in the children’s room keeping children occupied and happy while mom’s and dad’s got their questions answered.
Melissa Adasczik, PASSE Executive Director, says it was an overwhelming response from parents. She’s hoping that next year it can be even larger.
Three of the events vendors: David DiIanni – Director of The Children’s Institute Film School in Livingston, NJ, Matthew Schinelli, Director of New Jersey All People Equal and Paul Del Sordo, Director of the Hwang Karate School/Pediatric Martial Arts School all spoke me about what they offer in their programs. Adasczik says she had a lot of help planning this event.
“Crystal Martucci and Paul Del Sordo from PMA were amazing at finding companies to donate prizes for our raffle and food for our event,” she said. “(Martucci) also shared with me great ways to promote our Expo and put me in touch with The Junior League of Montclair and Newark, who provided our kids with great puppet shows.”
She explained that Martucci was instrumental with sharing ways to promote the expo contacting The Junior League of Montclair and Newark, who provided kids who came with their parents a live puppet show.
“Paul was instrumental in getting us experienced assistants for our childcare rooms,” she said. “Many families would not have been able to attend if we couldn’t provide this service. Without the help from Pediatric Martial Arts, our event would not have run as smooth as it did.”
